Unity and Solidarity Rally, New York, 9.11.2010
by John McMahon
Earlier today, I attended the Unity and Solidarity Rally/Emergency Mobilization Against Racism and Anti-Islamic Bigotry in Lower Manhattan, primarily as a participant but also to provide some photographs of the event for the Progressive Voice. A few brief, admittedly poorly-formed, thoughts:
Many of the speakers focused on the need for solidarity from all who have been...

Quick Note
Yes, we know, the show’s not named the CPV anymore, and John is in New York, and the episodes should be re-numbered, etc., etc.
We’re still working out the kinks in our new recording plan and set-up. Expect one or two more episodes (with a new one this upcoming week!) as is, and then a full re-launch with a new site design and all the other bells and whistles after that.
Cheers,

Big News
Dear Friends,
Big announcement, especially amidst the hullabaloo of the Ritter news. John and friend of the show Dillon Doyle have launched a new project that has been in the work for a couple of months: the Colorado Political Institute. The project will provide in-depth analysis and commentary on Colorado politics. We have a report on the role of natural gas in state politics on the (brand new)...

Interview with Sebastian Doggart, Director of...
This past February, we were involved with putting on an event on the DU Campus featuring a screening of the excellent and hilarious film Courting Condi, along with an audience Q and A with Director Sebastian Doggart and a debate on the topic “Should Condoleezza Rice be indicted for war crimes?” It was a smashing success (for footage of the debate go here).
Doggart is back with a...

CPV Updates
Indeed, it has been a while since your favorite internet radio show has been online. We owe you an explanation.
We assure you that John didn’t drive 45 minutes to record with Jeff, only to have forgotten all of the recording gear 45 minutes away. Promise. No, really.
There was also that matter of the large snowstorm.
John has a surgery coming up soon that will also impede the...

Is the Obama administration selling out millions...
by John McMahon
[Originally posted at the DU Dems blog].
Lots of news today that the Obama White House is pressuring the Senate negotiators to DROP a compromise on health care reform that would allow states to opt-out of a relatively robust public option. This is after the opt-out idea has been receiving increased public support, among both liberal and conservative Democratic Senators.
That’s...

Change of Plans
We promised a new episode over the weekend, but illness (don’t worry, no H1N1 here) prevented that from occurring. But, to make up for it, John will be interviewing Nicholas Clayton, Tblisi-based journalist and author of the Three Kings Blog on Wednesday. Word.
New Show coming this Weekend!
We’ll be bringing you a new episode of the good-ole’ CPV this weekend - check back soon.
In the meantime, if you can’t get enough of John (and who can, really?) - you can check out his Twitter feed. Chances are some of those stories will end up on the show.
Out.

Updates
Hello our best-est friends,
Quick note - due to living an hour away, Jeff in law school, and John in grad school, we’ll be moving the show so that it comes out once every other week. We know, sad news, but it just means you’ll have to savor every episode twice as much.
P.S. New episode coming out this weekend - get excited.
"Ice and Chilli"
The song “Ice and Chilli,” used by the CPV as Jeff and John introduce the show, was created by _ghost and used under a CC license. It’s a sweet track, check it out.
Van Jones’s Resignation: Cowering in Front of the...
By John McMahon [Author’s note: This article was originally written for the [dis]claimer newspaper at the University of Denver, to be published on Sept. 10. Also cross-posted at the DU Dems blog.]
In the early hours of September 6, former Special Advisor for Green Jobs in the Obama White House, Van Jones, resigned his position after controversy, led by Glenn Beck, over supposedly...

Hiatus :(
Dearest listeners,
Unfortunately, the CPV will be taking a (short-lived) break from the land of podcasts. Jeff starts law school in a couple days and John is writing a term paper and finishing up his thesis. We’ll be back in late August/early September with more of the goodness you crave.
In the meantime, you can always check out our archives here.
